Cool! WHATSAPP for IOS Prepares a Feature to Edit Sent Text Messages

Table of Contents
Five years ago, circa 2017, WhatsApp released the ability to delete sent messages. While this feature is quite useful, it can still be tricky when you send the wrong sticker or typo a few letters and need to delete the message, fix it, and have to send it again.

Another problem here is that WhatsApp also alerts other users if you delete a message. Now, a better solution will be issued by the company.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a feature to edit text messages in a future update. As of now, the publication believes that WhatsApp will not include edit history to check previous versions of edited messages, but as the feature is still in the works, plans are subject to change.

In addition, it is still unclear about the length of time that users are given to edit their messages. For example, when WhatsApp released a feature to delete sent messages, users only had seven minutes to delete texts. After that, the message cannot be deleted.
WABetaInfo includes screenshots of the Android app, although the publication confirms that the feature is in development for WhatsApp for iOS and Desktop. In a chat, when you press and hold a message, a new "Edit" button will appear. So the user can correct or add more info to the message.

As of now, in Meta products, only Facebook has offered the ability to edit posts. While Instagram allows users to delete messages and Messenger has a feature to cancel sending.

Recently, WhatsApp has also brought several new features to the app, such as Reaction, larger group chats, more capacity in group voice chats, and increased file size when sending attachments.(*)
